Client-Side Text Analysis

The FreeAnalyze Word Counter gives you immediate, accurate measurements of your written text. Unlike traditional desktop word processors that hide statistics behind nested menus or cloud-based utilities that send your drafts across external servers, this tool calculates all figures instantly in local browser memory.

As you type, paste, or edit text, six essential metrics update simultaneously without network lag or data exposure: total word count, total character count, total whitespace and space count, sentence count, paragraph count, and line count.

How to Use the Word Counter

01

Input Your Content

Type directly into the main text editor, or copy content from any document (PDF, Word, Google Docs, or Markdown) and paste it into the box.

02

Read Real-Time Metrics

Look directly below the text box. The metric cards update on every keystroke or paste event without requiring you to click a button or submit a form.

03

Copy or Clear

Use the Copy button in the bottom toolbar to place your text back onto your clipboard, or click Clear to empty the workspace and reset local draft memory.

Specific Use Cases

Select an industry workflow to see tailored length recommendations:

Target: 250 - 1,000 words

Academic & Essay Requirements

Admissions essays, research abstracts, and scholarship submissions frequently enforce strict caps (such as 250, 500, or 1,000 words). The real-time counter helps writers edit down or expand drafts to meet exact criteria without guesswork.

Target: 60 - 160 characters

SEO & Metadata Optimization

Search engines truncate meta titles past 60 characters and meta descriptions beyond 160 characters. Digital marketers use the character counter to craft titles and descriptions that display fully on search engine result pages.

Target: 140 - 280 characters

Social Media Length Caps

Platforms enforce strict limits, from X (formerly Twitter) posts at 280 characters to LinkedIn post openings before the "see more" cutoff at roughly 140 characters. Monitoring character and space counts ensures your message stays intact.

Target: Per-word billing

Freelance Writing & Translation Billing

Copywriters, editors, and translators frequently bill clients on a per-word or per-character basis. Having transparent, immediate counts provides verifiable data for project quotes and client invoices.

Technical Considerations & Boundaries

While the counter handles everyday documents with high precision, every rule-based counting tool has technical boundaries:

Sentence Boundaries

Sentences are identified by standard terminal punctuation (. ! ?). Complex text containing abbreviations (such as "e.g.", "Dr.", or "U.S.") or decimal figures may occasionally register extra sentence counts.

Hyphenated Words

Compound terms connected with hyphens (such as "state-of-the-art") are counted as a single word token according to standard Unicode conventions.

Formatting Stripping

Rich text attributes like bolding, font sizes, or embedded tables are not retained. The counter focuses exclusively on raw text contents.
